Stéphanie Maillet obtained her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Université de Moncton in 2008. She then continued her studies at the University of Ottawa, where she obtained a master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 2010. She began her career in a hospital setting in the Campbellton area, where she gained experience with the adult population who had swallowing disorders, acquired speech and/or language disorders, voice disorders, dementia as well as with the psychiatric population. She then continued her career in the Bathurst area, where she worked mainly on speech sound and language development with preschool children as well as with adults with voice disorders and people seeking gender affirming voice care.
Following all these years of experience, Stéphanie now joins our team to offer bilingual speech therapy services either virtually or at home (Chaleur region) to clients of all ages. She is particularly interested in both receptive and expressive language development and speech sound development in children as well as acquired language, speech and/or swallowing disorders in adults following a neurological event or the development of a degenerative disease (e.g., stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson's, etc.). She also offers services to people with voice disorders as well as those looking for gender affirming voice and communication care. Stéphanie has developed, over the years, an expertise and a passion for vocal health, voice disorders and gender affirming voice care. Therefore, she also offers training courses on vocal health and the prevention of voice problems, particularly for those in professions with high vocal demands (e.g., teachers, daycare educators, call center employees, etc.).
Both her professional and personal growth have led her to use an approach centered on active listening and empathy while valuing the needs and goals identified by the client and/or their family.
